Contest Time!

So, we are sitting here pining for Spring. We know it's here when we can wear t-shirts again and there are more mosquitos than people in our yard. (Actually, more mosquitos than people on the New York subway). When those first happy dandelions start popping up, then it's officially Springtime in Alaska - at least in our book.

We want to know, what spells S-p-r-i-n-g- in your neck of the woods? Leave us a comment below and we'll choose our favorite. We'll send the winner a bar of our Secret Garden soap (free shipping in US only, international contestants must pay shipping - sorry!).

And don't forget to vote in the SAFE team's Spring challenge here too for another chance to win a little bit of Spring! http://etsysafeteam.blogspot.com/

Around here--San Antonio, Texas--spring pops up just after the first of March. Lovely temperatures and it takes just a few weeks for the bluebonnets to appear everywhere!

That spring soap is really cute! ; )
Here in Northern Nevada, Spring is symbolized by the greening weeds on the hill, pollen sneezing attacks and flowering trees....all most likely mixed with a flourish of snowflakes and bright, sparkling sun.

In other words, in the high desert...it doesn't know what season it is in spring. ; )

Spring in Oklahoma is lots of rain, the wind that we always have, the flowers and grass start turning their bright colors, the snakes and toads start coming out of hibernation, and birds start flitting around the nests...but the one thing that makes it 'spring in Oklahoma' is the tornados. We don't always have them, but somewhere, in the state, there will be a tornado come whirling through sometime during this season and early summer, there will be a time when we have to take shelter and wait it out, praying that when we come back out of the saferooms that we will still have all 4 walls and a roof.

Spring means budding trees and beautiful blossoms on the crabapples. And never a certainty of whether you'll need sweaters or tank tops.

Spring here in Indiana means that everything is 'neon green'! I love that first green color of spring! Some daffodils and tulips are blooming! I have already mowed the lawn and mulched the flower beds (so spring means work too...but the kind I like!). It also means BUSY for my kids: Spring Musicals, Track Meets, Academic Competitions, Dance Recitals and Band Concerts..oh my! Also....your soap is beautiful!

For me it is the tiny buds on the trees, a little green popping through the ground for the daffodils about to rise up, sleeping with the windows open and waking to the sounds of the chirping birds making their way back. And then there is the yellow pollen all over my floors from those open windows.

Spring is when the first tulip burst out of the ground raises its little face and blooms in bright pink delight at the beautiful sunshine.
After all the snow in Virginia this winter my first tulips were a welcome sight of spring, however the crickets are now keeping me awake.

Spring in North Carolina: bradford pear trees bloom first, a sure sign; then, the pine trees dump what looks like 10 megatons of greenish yellow pollen on EVERYTHING. And, my head comes close to exploding. Yep, spring is here! :D

We know spring has arrived when we are anxiously awaiting our first camping trip of the year. We roast marshmallows, cook tasty foods on our mini grill, do A LOT of walking, talk and laugh around the campfire.

To me, Spring is a time of life renewed. It's the time when hibernating animals awake, seeds that have been dormant all winter bloom, and when people have a tradition called "Spring Cleaning".

In short, I wrote a haiku:

Beautiful season
Flowers, rituals, and love
Spring is life again

Hmmm, I read the comments and love them all. We have had an unusually mild winter with little snow, so tree buds are swelling. The first sign of Spring for me is the odor of skunks awakening from their winter beds and gracing the early morning air with their... (ahem)perfume. More than once, I have been jolted from sleep to close our bedroom window to their unwelcome "hello!"
